SketchUp Make 2017

Published by Mattias Brennecke on

Sketchup ist eine vektorbasierte 3D-Modelliersoftware. Das Programm hat bereits eine lange Geschichte hinter sich. Die erste Version stammt aus dem Jahr 2000 von der Firma „@Last Software“.

In 2006 SketchUp was acquired by Google, mainly to efficiently create building models for Google Earth. The software was resold in 2012 and has since been developed and distributed by Trimble Navigation. Besides an (expensive) pro version there is also a free version, which is offered for private persons. The free version has been browser-based since 2018. Therefore I recommend to use the "SketchUp Make" version from 2017. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator

My first contact with 3D modeling was with SketchUp, which is why I still use this software today. Of course, the program has its limits and is not suitable for all purposes, but for constructing (I will call it) technical models simple and easy to use.

If you have any questions about the program, or would like to see some tutorials, please write me in the comments.

The advantages over the browser version:

  • Extensions available
  • Work offline
  • better performance

List of extensions I use and recommend:

  • STL Import & Export
  • Fredo6 JointPushPull
  • Fredo6 Round Corner
  • Solid Iinspector²

Eine Anleitung, wie man Erweiterungen installiert, gibt es here.
